Newsletter Released for Friends and Fans of Plum and Pilot Islands

The Winter 2012 Newsletter for Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands (FOPPI) is available at the official Website

Learn about the work that FOPPI and partner organization, the US Fish and Wildlife Service are doing on the islands and within the Green Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Some of this work is physical and some is simply educational. Highlights include:

  • Plum and Pilot Islands will again be included as a stop in the 2012 Door County Lighthouse Festival, taking place from June 9 – 10 this year. This event brings lighthouse enthusiasts from across the country to learn about Door County maritime heritage and of course, climb the rear range light tower on Plum Island.
  • The annual meeting taking place on June 28 will be combined with the Plum Island Station Coast Guard Reunion. Meet some of the fine men that have served there and learn of their experiences on the island and the lake. They will also be presenting a program later in the evening at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center on Washington Island.
